SHIP AND OIL SPILL DETECTION
The increasing demand for petroleum has led to a need to discover and exploit new oil fields. The expanded drilling is supported by new drilling techniques and technologies, but the risk of accident is still present, also derived by tank collisions.
GEO-K develops tools for monitoring drilling sites, tracking ship traffic and detect oil spillages following their evolution in order to protect the marine ecosystem and nearby coastal areas. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) products are commonly used to these purposes, thanks to daily and night acquisitions capabilities and the independency from the atmospheric conditions.
